In and around the Millers House on the Moinhos estate we constructed and furnished a number of rustic guest rooms, studio's and cabins with a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The accommodations at Moinhos do Dão are simple but full of character. All accommodations provide sleeping, cooking and (either private or shared) sanitary facilities. We ask you to bring your own sheets, pillow covers and towels. The rooms are lit with candles or/and have solar- or water powered lamps. All facilities have water for washing but fresh drinking water you will collect at the well, just like people did a century ago. All facilities have water for washing, you can get water from our well for cooking, and we provide drinking water in 5 gallon bottles. Most accommodations have their own restroom. In a few cases the restroom is shared with other accommodations.

We rent out our accommodations from Saturday till Saturday.
The accommodations are available at 3 pm and you are requested to leave the accommodation at 10 am. Renting an accommodation for a couple of nights is possible for about 1/6 of the price per week but can only be booked within the 2 weeks before arrival.

 (1) The Miller's House (second floor)
One large room size 23 x 17 feet located in the old Miller's house sleeps 2-4 persons. Contains: bedroom for 2, loft, with 2 mattresses, dining table and seating area, kitchen with refrigerator, toilet on passage, shower outside of the room, large balcony, big garden. The Miller's house is equipped with illumination in the kitchen and above the dining table.
Adjacent to the Miller's house, there is one separate bedroom of 10 x 10 feet that sleeps 1-2.

   
   

  
 

  
  

   

 

  
 

 Log cabins 1,2,3,4
Located on the terraces on the west side of the estate, we have 4 private and quiet 13 x 13 feet cabins for 2 people. The cabins contain a kitchen, dinner table, chairs and a bed. Outside on the terrace you will find a couch, a picnic table and awning. Cabin guests use the bathing facilities that are in the bathhouse, not more than 70 feet away. All log cabins have their own toilet.
Cabin number 4 is extended with a 2-person bedroom that adds more space to the living room. This cabin has an indoor toilet and backdoor to a terrace.

  
 

   
  

Extra tent:
If you need more sleeping spaces for your family or group we rent out fully furnished simple dome tents that can be place near the accommodation or somewhere else on the premises. Price per week: € 75,00 (including mattresses, blankets, and pillows)

Camping
For our guests who want to camp, it's possible to pitch a tent right on the banks of the river Dão, on the higher terraces or on the island. On our estate you will find unique and remote spaces with a lot of privacy and plenty of shade provided by grapevines, olive and Mimosa trees. We have spaces for both small and large tents. Our campsites are situated in such a way that there is always enough space between the tents. Cars are parked in our parking area at the east entrance of the estate. One simple and single house rule is to act with respect to nature and our other guests.

Campers, trailers and caravans
We have space for small campers and tent trailers. The road to our estate is not suitable for caravans or big camper vehicles. We don't have camper facilities like outlets or sanitary plumbing on site.

Bathhouse: all camping guests can make free use of all the facilities in the centrally located bathhouse of Moinhos do Dão. It houses two warm water showers, three toilets, three washbasins and an area for manual laundry.

   Restaurant
- healthy and good food prepared with regional products -
Moinhos do Dão has an indoor and outdoor restaurant that are both beautifully located in the center of the estate. It's opened at least four times per week. We use regional, seasonal and homegrown products like figs, herbs, olives and grapes-the Portuguese and world kitchen inspires the menu. You will enjoy our Calde Verde (Portuguese cabbage soup), the Bacalhau (dried cod) dish and the wine from our neighbor Peixotte, who has lived in this valley all his life. Vegetarian cooking is also sometimes on the menu, but we also serve a Portuguese Barbeque because we know some guests wouldn't want to miss that. We can cook for special diets if notified in advance.

 Our outdoor restaurant is situated under a giant fig tree next to one of the river streams that pass under the mills. In the afternoon and evening you can order a port or beer at our bar and enjoy this at the riverside or around the campfire.

 The indoor restaurant that we use for colder spring or autumn days is situated in what we call 'the hall of the knights'. Here we have an open fireplace and a bar as well as our house library with literature, art, culture, nature books and a lot of information about Portugal.

Our restaurant and bar are open almost every day between April and October. During the low season we can cook for groups when notified in advance.
Prices: 3 course dinner including wine and coffee or tea for € 15,- p.p. Prices for children from 6 up to 14 years old are € 7,50 and for children up to 5 years € 6,00.

 During July and August we have a morning store at the Moinhos where we sell daily fresh bread and your most common grocery needs like eggs, butter, milk, pasta, and cheese for reasonable prices.
